The only thing that it does witch is weird is it always mounts the EFI partition and if I unmount it it crashes. I think besides over configurator there was another tool that does alot of things for you but while I hated I couldn't get it to work my way whatever that tool did fixed my problem. I seen someone managed to get clover EFI partition working right and their machine matched my configuration and bam it worked but there was a problem with the sleep/wake and audio kext that I also couldn't resolve because HP uses weird audio codecs and nonstandard ways of detecting audio inputs and outputs (long story there). Unfortunately when I tried it myself i just couldn't get it to behave correctly.
#Clover configurator crashes series
The Z series machine are weird and HP puts alot of road blocks from doing anything cool with them (except the z800 I love mine but not exactly hackintoshable). I mean I'm late af to the party but I found that clover can work on weird machines. (I’m not a mod, good luck to them, thanks for your hard work!) I would suggest you to open your own Clover fan subreddit, I’m sure plenty of people would join. (Opencore configurators are bad too, don’t be mistaken, it’s not really a question of Clover here)Īnd these people would come back in this subreddit to post that it doesn’t work, they have issues with it etc… on a method that isn’t simply supported here.Īs we all know, there’s plenty of posts of people here already, we don’t need more posts about Clover that will result in comments saying « go Opencore, Clover’s « method » isn’t supported here » Your post would achieve what? People would start to try to use a Clover Configurator, which is bad, as it has been stated multiple times here. The Dortania guide, which is the only method supported in this subreddit (see the rules in the sidebar), explains it even better, I suggest you to read it. So why would you use even use it anymore? Sorry for the hardcore « fans » here, I know this comment is going to be downvoted to hell, but when you compare Clover to Opencore, Clover is just overall a bad technical choice. (Still is btw)Īs some time now, Clover has decided to simply integrate Opencore in it in order to work. It was never EASY nor simple to use, you wouldn’t even know what options to check or not, and the lack of documentation (even out of date) was abismal.

There was little effort in the post, and the post was about configurator (which is bad) and Clover (which is not supported here) no surprise it has been deleted.Ĭlover had it’s days, I used it for years. I’m not a mod, but I would have removed your post too. Oh, and also, the actual origin of the quirk. If users with AMD CPUs or Alder Lake CPUs wanted to use this quirk, what would they choose? Probably the solution with more documentation, current active users, more active developers, and an earlier release date. Clover merged the 0.7.0 commits months before Configurator showed the quirk, but did not document those new quirks on Github, resulting in a disconnect in user accessibility, unless the user looked up the quirk's functionality in Opencore. The original quirk was added in Opencore 0.7.0 in June 2021, while the Configurator added the quirk in March 2022.
#Clover configurator crashes update
Now, an update comes out for Clover Configurator that lets you configure the ProvideCurrentCpuInfo quirk. Setting default values when merely opening and saving the plist without changing stuff yourself, together with a confusing UI, means that users have very limited troubleshooting options for a bootloader already lacking in documentation. Unless you want to read the originals in Russian.Ĭlover Configurator is somehow worse. Seriously, the only documentation I can find is a Google translated copy for r5129. Anything above is a horrific hodgepodge of different projects thrown together in hopes that it sort of works. What advantages does it have over Opencore? And I mean the real Clover.
#Clover configurator crashes mod
I was fine with leaving the original post up, but I can understand why another mod would remove it.Ĭlover deserves the criticism it gets currently.

While I wasn't the mod that removed this post, I'll share my thoughts on it.
